At our upcoming team meeting December 6th, I'd like to get some discussion going about what we can do to make our weekly nets a bit more interesting and useful. Danny KD6OKR suggested some ideas that we could roll into the nets, for example:

HT Night - schedule a net where everyone checks in using their handheld radios.

Backup/Emergency Power Night - everyone checks in using backup and/or emergency power.

UHF Night - we all check in on a UHF repeater.

Weather Reports - everyone who checks in has to give a short weather report on the conditions at their locations.

Three other ideas -

Simplex Drill - this is in the works.

Call Downs - instead of going though the district lists, a representative from each district would call out for team members that are listening, similar to what we would do during an activation.

Message handling - the net prior to the monthly team meeting, have Net Control transmit a short message in our written format. We can go over it at the meeting - maybe a small prize for those who successfully copy it?

The only restriction is that we try to keep the nets to 30 minutes or less. We don't have to do something new every week. On the other hand, some drills (for example, simplex) we might want to do on a regular basis.
