I created a new folder called "AK6QJ's Stuff". Currently, it has three files with local repeater information, and a file from Ed Harris KE4SKY with some ideas about how to equip yourself for emergency communications. Good morning all!
I just joined this group and love that it exists. The ability to access these resources from anywhere is great. Jerry, thanks for the repeater documents! These will help alot! I have made a new commitment to test my radio skills on Sunday mornings for the ARES net and will hike various trails and mtns. in the SD area and try to transmit from them for the net. These maps will help with that tremendously! If any one wants to join me, please do! Also, I want to encourage everyone to attend the SANDARC convention on Sept 22-24. It is here in SD and not too far from home. They are expecting 1400 hams to attend. We should have a good ARC showing. Net next Tuesday Night

As I mention on the net this last Tuesday, I will be out of town starting this Saturday and not returning until late Wed night. I need someone to check in on the RACES net on Monday night at 19:30 hours. We have been assign the tactical call sign of ADAM 3. When they call for liaisons you will check in during that segment of the net. Repeater is 147.195 P/L 114.8.
Also need someone to call the Red Cross net on Tuesday night. I have posted the Net Script and check in roster to the yahoo groups page. The one thing we need to abide by is Palomar ARC policy states that normally held nets on their repeaters must be ran by a member of the club. We have plenty of people who belong to PARC so hopefully it won't be a problem. Please let me know if you can cover any of the above nets Thanks Bob

Wildland Fire Safety Training

As mentioned during last Tuesday's net, there will be an additional
Wildland Fire Safety Training session held on May 20th at the San Diego Humane Society. For more information, please contact Gerry Sandford at Gerry.Sandford@... . This is excellent training and very useful to anyone who will be working in or near the fire lines. Wildland fires are very different animals than house or structure fires... Note to Bob & Ted - if we can generate enough interest, we can probably arrange for CDF to present a similar course to our group. 73, Jerry
